How to Influence a Bill
1. Follow its progress through the legislature
If you know the bill number, go to
http://laws.leg.mt.gov/legprd/law0203w$.startup?P_SESS=20231
for information on the bill's status and who's involved.
If you don't know the bill number, go to http://laws.leg.mt.gov/legprd/law0203w$.startup?P_SESS=20231
to look up bills by subject area, for example.
2. Send your opinion to the legislators
Go to
https://leg.mt.gov/public-testimony/
and complete the online comment form. This must be submitted by close of business the day before a scheduled hearing.
Send an email to one of our 3 elected officials (Mike Cuffe, Neil Duram, or Steve Gunderson) or a member of the pertinent committee. These folks can all be found through leg.mt.gov
Sign up to testify at a hearing. Again, go to
https://leg.mt.gov/public-testimony and complete the requested information.
