Our Lincoln County Elections Office included special instructions for absentee voters on colored paper from the Montana Secretary of State's Office to sign your ballot. This is a grave misinformation mistake. The ballot instruction brochure gave the correct instructions which was to sign the outside of the exterior envelope and include your birth year. If you signed your actual voting ballot, this will result in your ballot being rejected with

Montana caved to the feds
Or did it? Montana's Secretary of State Christi Jacobsen notified Montana Free Press in early February 2026 that her office has handed over confidential voter data to the U.S. Department of Justice.
