If you are anxiously sitting on the sidelines awaiting the next election, consider taking action to help get Democrats elected up and down the ballot and/or take part in a local government review commission.
Two opportunities to make a difference:
Local Government Study Commission - Lincoln County municipalities (Libby, Troy, and Eureka) and the County have elected to conduct a local government review. Three citizens will be elected on each of the Town review panels and 5 for the County government review to spend 18 months leading discussions among local citizens about their local government’s existing power and form of governing and to evaluate alternatives. Those interested in serving as a study commissioner have until Aug. 12 to file as a candidate. The election is nonpartisan. An online training course is being hosted by MSU Extension on Wednesday, July 24 at 11 am. For more information see the MSU Extension Local Government Center website. This is an opportunity to have an influence in how our government operates at the grass roots level. If you find yourself complaining about County or City operations, consider stepping up to be on a local government review commission.
Canvassing/Phone Banking for the Combined Campaign - help get Democrats elected up and down the ballot starting with Jon Tester, Monica Tranel, Ryan Busse, Dakota Adams, and Doug Davies. Training is provided to knock on doors or make calls to identify supporters. Local lists are generated and customized for our local neighborhoods. Door to door canvassing is suggested for Saturday mornings and Sunday afternoons. Phone banking occurs on Tuesdays at 6 pm and Thursdays at 5 pm. Lannie Fehlberg or Ellen Sullivan are happy to take you out on a training run in the Eureka area or in your neighborhood elsewhere in the Tobacco Valley.
