HB551: Allowing Weapons in MT


HB551 - http://leg.mt.gov/bills/2023/billpdf/HB0551.pdf - would propose and amendment to the Montana constitution permitting the carrying of (concealed) arms. "The right of any person to keep or bear arms in defense of his own home, person, and property, or in aid of the civil power when thereto legally summoned, shall not be called in question."

During the first week of April, HB551 passed 3rd reading with 65 votes, the same amount as 2nd reading, meaning the bill would need the support from at least one Democrat if Senate Republicans voted as a united caucus.
